Although I do not enjoy the PC version of Model Railroading nearly as much as running my own setup, it is a pretty good simulator. The biggest fault that I found, was the commands need to be a little more simplified, at least for begining simulator railroaders. Too many commands and signaling requirements puts beginners in a sort of quandry, then frustration sets in, and they don't want to indulge in the repitions of commands for their railroad to be successful, and therefore either blame the manufacturer of the product, or themselves and don't do what the simulator's intent is, which is to relax and enjoy the fruits of their efforts.
